RE: Position of Overdrive Switch

Please review the Allison Transmission Service Information, while the fluid change intervals have been extended, the requirement for a Control Filter(Spin On) change at 5,000 miles still exists.
Another heads-up, many WCC service centers will tell you the Internal Filter needs to be changed also. Read the Allison info, this filter is changed only if the transmission has been overhauled.
Fred
Thanks Fred for the information. I think I will call Allison when I get a chance.
Thanks Again

RE: Position of Overdrive Switch

Chamge the red Allison filter at 5,000 miles to keep waranty in effect. After initial change, you should be good for 50k miles.
Miket:
Thanks for the info about the transmission filter change but if I looked at the manual right it says that I have TranSynd fluid in the transmission and when I went on the Allison web site it says that the filter does not need changed at 5000 miles.
Let me know if you think different!
Thanks

RE: Position of Overdrive Switch

Thanks for the reply's. Ours is wired where the switch is in upside down, that's why I had trouble reading the manual. Ours is wired when in position 1 all gears are actived and position 3 is no 5th & 6th. Well at lease they got position 2 right according to the manual.
Thanks Again

Position of Overdrive Switch

We have the 2100mh Allison Transmission in a 2007 Winnebago.
What I want to know is about the three way switch on the dash that puts the overdrive in different gears. Looking at the switch where 1 is at the top. What is it suppose to do in each position?
1
2
3
Number 1 would be pushed in toward dash.
The reason I ask is beacuse I do not understand the way it is printed in the manual.
Thanks for any and all comments

RE: Another Transynd Question

TS...that's for a trans with Transynd from the factory. Totally different than a changeover from Dex to syn. :)

RE: Gen-Set Exhaust Too Close To Bike Cover

6 inches away (not in the exhaust stream) from my pipe and you wouldn't know it was on by the heat. If it is blowing at the cover or it can move into the exhaust stream I would be concerned. 12 inches separation should not be a problem.
You might try placing a wireless thermometer or borrowing an infrared thermometer and seeing how warm it actually gets. It should only take a few minutes for the test.
Great idea on using a wireless thermometer, will try it as soon as I have a chance.
Thanks

Gen-Set Exhaust Too Close To Bike Cover

The exhaust pipe on our gen-set goes out the back of our coach. I have a bike rack with a cover that is only a foot away and down towards the bottom. I am worried that the cover is close enough that it may be damaged from the heat. I thought that I would get a electric conduit elbow and slide it over the exhaust pipe and point it down toward the ground when we or sitting still.
I belive that going down the road it would be ok to use the gen-set with out the conduit because there will be enought wind to cool the bike cover.
Tell me what you think!
Thanks for any and all coments

Opening The Slide On Incline

Our drive way is on about a 6% incline, would it hurt to open the slide for a hour or so while we load the RV? Also I do not intend to put the jacks down, What are everyones thought on this.

RE: I might of made an oops

When I was finishing the winterization process for the first time, I read on this awesome forum page :B that in order to do the city water I need to take the little screen off and push the button. Well the button was really hard to push .. so I pushed a bit harder and water begun spraying out - yea!!! BUT....
I may have pushed the button in too much. :S It would't stop spraying, I had to shut the pump off and now the little button seems lost inside the city connection... is this normal? how do I get the little button to come back out so in the spring when I pressurize it won't continue squirting out.
:h
I have had the same problem. take the city connection apart, what may have happen is the spring that holds pressure on the seat may be twisted or turned and will not let the unit reseat.
Hope this helps good luck
Also what was said before, releive the pressure before pushing in on the city connection button.

RE: Oil Filter for a onan 5.5

why don't you want to use an Onan filter?
I don't mind using a Onan filter but the dealer is 50 miles round trip plus the Onan filter is over twice the price of another filter that will do the same job.
Also I want to thank everyone for their responses.

Oil Filter for a onan 5.5

The dealer said our Generator takes a 122-0836 ONAN oil filter.
I am wanting to know if anyone has any cross reference numbers for other brands of oil filters.

RE: Do I have a battery drain somewhere?

I think you will find that wire to be the memory on your Allison computer. It will draw approx 850 MA(millamps)
Will it hurt the computer for the transmission if you unhook the battery?
